The City of New Iberia's online systems have been hacked, according to New Iberia Mayor Freddie DeCourt.

The Iberian is reporting that the attack took place on Tuesday night during the city council meeting.

"Our IT guy could see things being encrypted as he worked," said DeCourt.

The state is also currently trying to get back online after an attempted ransomware attack on Monday.

Experts from the Louisiana National Guard and LSP are in New Iberia trying to "determine the depth and severity of the attack."

DeCourt added that the network is expected to be down for at least the next 48-72 hours.
