The New Iberia City Council voted tonight to approve the city's 2020 fiscal budget of $49 million.
Mayor Pro Tem Dan Doerle says this year, the city has an extra $2 million in the budget for special projects. Doerle explained that the extra money comes from the growth in the city, like the new Hobby Lobby and Rouse's.
Projects include a splash pad that was recently installed in the West End Park.
Also at the meeting, the city announced the auction of several properties throughout the city.
