Attempted Murder suspect turns himself in to Opelousas PD

UPDATE: Timothy Lyle Birotte has turned himself in to Opelousas Police, authorities say.

Birotte has been booked on charges Attempted Second Degree Murder, Domestic Abuse Batter, Flight from an Officer, and Aggravated Assault.

He is being booked in the St. Landry Parish Jail.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Basile Police Department is searching for a suspect wanted for the attempted murder of his 39-year-old female companion.

Police say Timothy Lyle Birotte, 49, is wanted after the female suffered multiple stab wounds, some considered to be life threatening, at the hands of Birotte.

After the attack, Birotte fled the scene. He is driving a black 2013 Dodge Charger with the Louisiana license plate 437CIF.

Birotte should be considered dangerous.
