Arrest made in Ville Platte armed robbery investigation

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a Ville Platte store on Tuesday.

28-year-old Jesse Lee Fontenot of Ville Platte was arrested on Thursday, August 29.

Police Chief Neal Lartigue says that officers responded to the armed robbery of a store located on East Lincoln Road in Ville Platte at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 27.

Witnesses told police that a male suspect, identified as Fontenot, entered the store wearing a mask and robbed the store at gunpoint. Police say he then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

After an investigation, a warrant was issued for Fontenot. He was booked into the Ville Platte City Jail on charges of Armed Robbery and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

Fontenot was transported to the Evangeline Parish Jail where he remains incarcerated.

His bond was set at $550,000.

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office assisted in the arrest.
