Lake Charles Police have arrested a man for a drive-by shooting in the city.
According to a press release, police received a call around 6:30 a.m. on October 5 of a weapons complaint in the 900 block of Lakeshore Dr.
Officers identified the suspect as 21-year-old Toni Cartez January. They say he fired multiple rounds from within a moving vehicle, one of which ended up striking a window at the Lake Charles Civic Center.
There were no injuries reported.
Further investigation revealed that January was prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm.
January was booked in the Calcasieu Parish Jail with one charge each of Assault by Drive-by Shooting, Possession of Firearm by Person Convicted of Certain Felonies, Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, and Possession of Schedule I CDS.
January's bond was set at $275,000.
