The Calcasieu River is now open to recreational boat traffic.

The river's level has receded and all restrictions have been lifted, according to Dick Gremillion, Director of the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.

The Police Jury issued the closure on July 15 due to flooding caused by Hurricane Barry.

The closure included the Calcasieu River, English Bayou, and all areas north of the Saltwater Barrier to the parish line, including the West Fork of the Calcasieu River.

Parish boat launches will also reopen as of sunrise on Saturday, July 20.

Anthony Ferry Boat Launch will remain closed until further notice.

Parish officials urge residents to still use caution because of high waters, strong currents, and debris.
