A Calcasieu Parish corrections officer has been arrested and booked on several counts of rape and sexual battery.

According to KPLC, 33-year-old David Monceaux of Iowa was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on Wednesday, February 5 on seven counts of first-degree rape and 30 counts of sexual battery of juveniles.

Sheriff Tony Mancuso said Monceaux had worked for the Sheriff's Office for about two years as a correctional officer before he was terminated due to the investigation.

The investigation began after the Sheriff's Office received a complaint that Monceaux had inappropriate contact with juveniles.

Mancuso said there are three children involved, ranging in age from about six to nine years old. The abuse, according to the department, had been ongoing since 2017.

During an interview with detectives, Monceaux allegedly stated that he had inappropriate sexual conduct with at least two girls.

Additional warrants will be obtained, and Mancuso said there is no indication of other victims at this point.

The investigation is ongoing.

Monceaux's bond has been set at $2.5 million.
