Judges and the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney say they are looking into ways to get people to show up for jury duty, according to a report by KPLC.

Only about 20 percent of people summoned for jury duty clocked in last Monday.

One judge says that number has been declining in the last few years.

Judges are considering limiting excuses, changing the way people are subpoenaed, and even raising contempt issues.

DA John DeRosier said, "i'm certain if they were charged with criminal activity, they would like to think that there are reasonable, logical, rational Americans to judge their cases when their time comes."
