Crowley residents hold graduation parade for CHS seniors

A group of residents in Crowley came together on Saturday to celebrate the seniors at Crowley High School with a special parade.

The parade was held Saturday at 2 p.m. and rolled down Parkerson Avenue and around Crowley's court circle.

Organizers did their best to enforce social distancing, as the Crowley Police Department assisted to make sure proper safety measures were followed.

They said they wanted the graduating students to wrap up their high school career with something memorable.

Co-chairman/organizer Ricky Villejoin explained that after the students missed out on other important events, it was important for the community to come together in support.

"They had their prom taken away, they had the last eight weeks of school taken away, kind of their chance to bond as a class. So this was important for everything where they were concerned," explained Villejoin. "It was important to them that they are recognized for their achievements."

Crowley High's modified graduation ceremony will be held next Saturday, May 23, at a time yet to be determined.
