The City of Youngsville will honor the first graduating class of Southside High with a graduation parade on Saturday, May 23.

At the city council meeting on May 14, Mayor Ken Ritter proclaimed the month of May, 2020 as "Southside High School Senior Class of 2020 Month."

In his proclamation Ritter calls on the citizens of Youngsville to congratulate the school's graduates and "wish them well on future endeavors and encourage them to continue their service to our city and society."

The parade is scheduled to take place at the same time as the originally scheduled graduation ceremony on May 23 at 7pm, according to the Mayor.

More details about the parade will be released before Saturday following a meeting with the police chief and the Lafayette Parish School System.

Southside High administrators say that parade details will be emailed to seniors and parents on Monday, May 18.
