LAFAYETTE, La. — KATC spoke with officials at Woodvale Elementary in Lafayette who say that the school was placed on lockdown Friday afternoon and students and faculty were told to shelter in place while police presence was reported in the area.
The Lafayette Parish School System says that as of 3:05 p.m. all lockdowns have been lifted on campus at Woodvale Elementary.
According to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office, SWAT is assisting its narcotics division unit executing a search warrant near Woodvale. Traffic was blocked off temporarily until the call was cleared.
LPSO says that several people were detained in that search warrant execution. An investigation is ongoing.
