LAFAYETTE, La. — The man accused of stabbing a Lafayette man and booked with attempted second degree murder over the weekend remains in custody at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
Chance Seneca, 19, appeared before a magistrate judge on Monday morning at the Lafayette Parish Courthouse, who kept his bond at $250,000 and referred him to the public defender's office for legal representation.
A date for Seneca's arraignment has not yet been set.
According to the Lafayette Police Department, officers were called to the 400 block of Maryview Farm Road just before midnight on Saturday.
Police say they found an 18-year-old man suffering from a large laceration to his neck.
He was treated at the scene and then transported to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, police say.
Police then arrested Seneca, who was still at the scene when police arrived. He was booked into jail for attempted second-degree murder with a bond of $250,000.
KATC spoke to the victim's family, who identified him as Holden White. His family tells us he is now off a ventilator, but remains in the ICU.
The family has set up a GoFundMe account to raise money to help White with his recovery. If you'd like to help you can find it here.
