LAFAYETTE — On Friday, the Stuller Family Foundation donated nearly $50,000 to support the efforts of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (SAR) Team.

The Sheriff's Office says the foundation’s contribution will fund training, equipment and other operational needs which will immediately enhance the SAR Team’s ability to respond to all incidents parish wide. They say the money will also help expand the team's capability to support surrounding agencies.

“We’re very grateful to the Stuller Family Foundation for dedicating this funding to our continued efforts of protecting all citizens in Lafayette Parish. The money allocated to the Search and Rescue Team will help us find missing persons and respond to natural or man-made disasters anywhere they are deployed,” said Sheriff Mark Garber.

"The Stuller Family Foundation has a proud tradition of supporting the efforts of local law enforcement,” said Stuller Family Foundation Executive Director Scott Brazda, "Who do we all turn to when a Hurricane Barry or other natural disaster occurs in our area? First responders, who risk their lives to save those of so many others. What would we do without such a team?"

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team consists of 60 members who specialize in land, air and/or marine-related rescue operations in any area of Lafayette Parish, and throughout the entire region.
