LAFAYETTE, La. - High school juniors and seniors from around Lafayette Parish participated in a creative writing workshop on Friday at the Hilliard Art Museum on UL's campus.
Blank Page Poetry Day gives students the opportunity to work with Dr. Jack Bedell who is the former poet laureate for the state.
There were workshops for 85 GEAR UP students, and their creative writing club sponsors, from Acadiana High, Carencro High, Lafayette High, and Northside High School.
"It's my hope that they see things today that they're going to continue writing about for the remainder of the school year, or into the rest of their lives and today is going to give them the kind of energy and the impetus to continue experiencing this art and bringing it into their lives," said Bedell.
