Representatives from South Louisiana Community College were at Northside High School on Wednesday to talk about all aspects of college and college life.
The second annual event was open to all students and their parents.
Students were able to access faculty and administrators from different departments at SLCC and learn about what the college offers for students pursuing a secondary education.
Departments participating in Wednesday's event included Admissions, Career & Transfer Services, Financial Aid, Student Engagement, Student Success, Disability Services, Scholarships, WorkReady U Adult Education, Testing, Business, Criminal Justice, Culinary Arts & Occupations, Digital Media Design, Electrician, HVAC, IT, Nursing & Allied Health, and Welding.
SLCC Outreach Specialist Diamond Williams says that the event has been effective in putting the option of college level learning in front of students.
"I think a lot of times we focus on the student coming to us. But we need to remember to meet them where they are." says Williams. "It benefits both entities that way."
Williams' says that students interested in furthering their education with SLCC are always welcome to talk with them about their options.
"We have a lot of good information here for you and we'll lead you through it," she says. "You don't have to do this by yourself. There are people here that really want to guide you and help get you where you'd like to be."
