UPDATE: Police say no one was injured in a Sunday afternoon shooting in Lafayette.
Lafayette police were in the 2200 block of NW Evangeline Thruway when they heard shots fired. They found a Nissan SUV fleeing the area, and tried to stop it. They pursued the SUV into St. Landry Parish, and were able to stop it near Grand Coteau. They took the driver, a man, and the passenger, a woman, back to Lafayette for questioning.
The Lafayette Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit is investigating the shooting. There are no reported injuries at this time. Investigators are encouraging anyone with information about the shooting to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.

Lafayette Police are investigating shots fired on the Thruway.
Police heard several shots in the 2200 block of N.W. Evangeline Thruway, a spokesman said.
They saw a vehicle leaving the scene, and pursued it into St. Landry Parish, the spokesman said.
The vehicle was stopped in St. Landry Parish, and two people have been detained.
