A photo project documenting the "Voices of Race" will be exhibited at Acadiana Center for the Arts in honor of Black History Month.
Conversation Starters, the Lafayette cultural competency and equity consultation firm presenting the project, will display the portraits of twenty local subjects in ACA's Coca-Cola Studio from February 8 through February 29, 2020.
Each photograph will be accompanied by a story from the subject on the role race has played in their lives. The stories and portraits were gathered by dozens of story collectors and local photographers.
KATC's own Marcelle Fontenot is one of the many faces that visitors will see while walking through the exhibit.
Her portrait tells the story of how race has impacted her career as a reporter and her connection to her community.
The exhibit opens during the Second Saturday ArtWalk on February 8.
