LSU has created a video that turns student Mondo Duplaintis' world-record-setting pole vault this weekend into a teaching moment.
Duplaintis, a former Lafayette High star, broke the world pole vaulting record at the Copernicus Cup in Poland Saturday.
David Young, a physics professor at LSU, uses physics to explain how pole vaulting works, and how Duplantis achieved such an amazing feat. In the video, Young explains how kinetic energy, elastic potential energy and gravitational potential energy work together to make those seemingly impossible vaults possible.
