The first day of school is only a few weeks away for most of Acadiana, and with the new school year comes new spending.
The school shopping list typically comes out before classes offically begin, but most teachers say to wait until they say specifically what their class requires.
Another cost is the class fee itself, which Lafayette Parish officials say they are working to lower or at least make sure the money is spent while children are in the class the money is intended for.
Jennifer Gardner, LPSS Chief Administrative Officer, says the money should go back to students "sitting in that class, for projects and opportunities."
