LAFAYETTE, La. — The pedestrian struck by a vehicle Monday evening on the Evangeline Thruway has died.
Lafayette Police say that on January 18, at around 8:36 pm, Lafayette Police responded to a accident in the 2100 block of NE Evangeline Thruway involving a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was traveling north on the NE Evangeline Thruway when the pedestrian entered the roadway in an attempt to cross the street, police say.
The pedestrian, identified as 28-year-old Devan Dufour of Scott, was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead from the injuries she sustained.
Lafayette Police say alcohol is not believed to be a factor for the drive of the vehicle. They were not injured in the crash.
According to court records, Devan Dufour's name and date of birth match those of the Devan Dufour who was arrested in August 2019 for an obstruction of justice charge made in reference to the Daisy Lynn Landry homicide investigation.
Records show that Dufour had a court hearing set for Tuesday morning at the Lafayette Parish Courthouse. A bench warrant was then issued when the defendant failed to appear in court.
The accident remains under investigation.
