A group in Lafayette is working to distribute masks and filters to residents who need them.
"Hamza" says they've given out about 1,000 filters so far. They've been handing out the supplies every two weeks, because they say they're worried no one is looking out for the average person.
Hamza Romani, founder of the group was at Girard Park today.
"We want to protect everyone. Especially now when people go to Walmart and grocery stores, it's risky, and if I forget my mask and go to a grocery store, I feel embarrased when everyone has a mask, and me, I don't. That's understandable, and that's why I'm here to change that problem," Romani said.
