A home received major electrical damage after a lightning strike caused a fire at the residence.
The Scott Fire Department says that on Monday at 1:33 PM, crews were dispatched to a house fire as a result of lighting striking in the 1000 block of Renaud Drive.
Upon arrival, witnesses informed firefighters that lighting hit the top of the structure, at which point smoke began to emit from the roof.
On the roof firefighters say they found a hole, caused by a lightning strike. No one was home during the incident, so firefighters forced entry into the structure to investigate the extent of damage.
Once inside, they say they found that all the electrical outlets were burnt or damaged due to the lighting strike. Firefighters placed a tarp over the hole to minimize water damage to the structure. Firefighters also disconnected power to the structure to prevent an electrical fire.
No one was injured as a result of the incident. The home did not receive any structural damage, however did receive major electrical damage.
