Lafayette General Health announced Friday that they have updated their restricted visitor policy following the announcement by Gov. John Bel Edwards on Thursday of moving the state into Phase 3.
The new policy will allow patients to have visitors while healing and receiving care at the hospital.
The hospital is following their most recent mask protocolsand updating visitor policies across the health system:
Surgery patients - Patient identifies one asymptomatic visitor for duration of stay; visitor may or may not be able to wait in waiting areas due to social distancing limitations; visitor may be in room with patient; visitor should leave phone number to be contacted if waiting in car.
ED patients - Patient identifies one asymptomatic visitor for duration of stay when patient is in room; visitor may or may not be able to wait in waiting areas due to social
distancing limitations; visitor should leave phone number to be contacted if waiting in car.
Inpatients - Patient identifies one asymptomatic visitor for duration of stay; subjective symptom screen daily in room or at screening station upon initial re-entry.
Labor/ Delivery/ Mother/ Baby - Patient identifies one asymptomatic visitor for duration of stay; subjective symptom screen daily in room or at screening station upon initial re-entry.
Peds/ NICU - Patient allowed two asymptomatic visitors for duration of stay; subjective symptom screen daily upon initial re-entry.
ICU - Patient allowed one asymptomatic visitor during newly defined ICU visiting hours only; 9-10 a.m. and 1-2 p.m.; waiting in waiting room allowed for emergent
purposes only; subjective symptom screen daily as above.
Clinics/ Outpatients - Zero visitors allowed at this time except pediatrics or those with a disability.
COVID-19 Patients - Only in end-of-life circumstances as previously defined.
