LCG: Wednesday is last day for Cajundome screening site

LAFAYETTE, La. — On Monday, April 13, Lafayette Consolidated Government will hold a press briefing to discuss the parish's response to COVID-19.

LCG officials announced that Wednesday, April 15, will be the final day that the COVID-19 screening/testing site at the Cajundome in Lafayette.

Officials cited that the Cajundome site had served its original purpose when it opened on March 18 to screen and test those who may be showing symptoms of the disease when no other sites existed at that time.

Officials say that now that more hospitals and clinics in the area are able to screen or test for COVID-19, the Cajundome site is seeing fewer and fewer visitors.

On Monday, Lafayette Parish was reporting 360 coronavirus cases with 14 deaths.

As of noon, the Louisiana Department of Health is reporting 21,016 coronavirus cases in the state with 884 deaths.
