The Lafayette Police Department will conduct an OWI Checkpoint within the incorporated limits of Lafayette on Friday, August 16 from 9:00 pm to 3:00 am.
The department says the purpose of the checkpoint is to target impaired drivers under the influence of alcohol or other dangerous substances.
Officers will respond with zero tolerance to those drivers found under the influence. The department reminds citizens that if they intend to drink to designate a driver. Not doing so could result in fines or jail time, according to the department.
