LAFAYETTE, La. — UPDATE: The standoff involving Lafayette Police Department and its SWAT Team at a home in the 100 block of Champagne Street has ended.
According to LPD, offices were initially called to the scene for a drug activity complaint for a vehicle parked in front of the residence at 100 block of Champagne Street.
When officers arrived, they saw a male suspect exit the vehicle and enter the residence, which was also occupied by another male suspect. Another female suspect remained inside the vehicle.
Officers were able to negotiate that the original male suspect leave the residence after the standoff.
All three individuals were then detained by LPD.
One black male suspect was charged with possession of a stolen firearm and possession of marijuana. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, LPD says that this suspect was not taken to jail for his arrest, so an arrest warrant was issued for him after the fact.
The female suspect was arrested at the scene on a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana.
