Lafayette parish public schools will be closed on Thursday as officials assess water and weather-related issues, according to a post on a board member's Facebook page.

The Magnet Academies lottery set for tomorrow has been postponed.

Officials report that low water pressure and ice continue to be an issue at parish schools, necessitating the continued closure.

Central office essential personnel, school administrators and custodians at the school and district level are to report to work.

Here's the release from LPSS:
Due to continuing inclement weather concerns, and in consultation with local officials, the Lafayette Parish School System will keep all schools and offices closed on Thursday, February 18, 2021. Staff continue to assess facilities and report that low water pressure, as well as standing ice in some areas, remain an issue. The Magnet Academies lottery scheduled for tomorrow, February 18, 2021, is postponed. As we continue to monitor conditions and assess facilities, we ask that families refer to the LPSS website and Facebook page for updates regarding school status for Friday, February 19, 2021. While all schools and offices are closed to the public, the following personnel are to report to work: ● Central office essential personnel ● School administrators ● Custodians - district and school level Employees unable to safely report to work are to contact their immediate supervisor.
