Lafayette nursing home sees increase in number of residents with COVID-19

LAFAYETTE, La. — The Louisiana Department of Health reported on Monday that a nursing home in Lafayette had reported just over half of its residents had tested positive for COVID-19.

Courtyard Manor Nursing Care Center located on Sidney Martin Road in Lafayette reported that 37 of its 66 residents had tested positive for COVID-19, according to LDH on June 8.

Courtyard Manor had reported that 23 of its residents had COVID-19 to LDH on June 1, which is an increase of 14 over the last week.

LDH reports that a total of 3 residents have died as a result of COVID-19.

Courtyard Manor has also reported that 9 staff members have tested positive for the disease, which is 2 more than were reported last week with 1 staff member having recovered.

According to LDH, as of June 6 there are 122 other adult residential facilities have reported at least one COVID-19 case (among residents or staff).

A total of 630 COVID cases have been reported among residents of other adult residential facilities.

A total of 91 COVID deaths have been reported among residents of other adult residential facilities.
