One person was killed Wednesday morning following a single-vehicle crash on West Main Street in Broussard.
According to police, 56-year-old John Latta of Lafayette was killed after his vehicle left the roadway to the right and struck a tree.
Police say that after the initial impact with the tree, Latta's vehicle flipped and landed on its roof in the middle of the roadway.
Latta was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lafayette Parish Coroner's Office.
The Broussard Police Department says that Latta was not properly restrained at the time of the crash.
Toxicology results are pending.
