Lafayette City and Parish Councils approve $260,000 for rental and utilities assistance

LAFAYETTE, La. — The Lafayette City and Parish Councils approved $260,000 for Catholic Charities of Acadiana for rental and utilities assistance during the joint meeting on Tuesday.

The councils approved a joint ordinance that amends the FY 19/20 operating budget of the Lafayette City-Parish Consolidated Government and authorizes the transfer of $60,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and $200,000 in Home Investment Partnerships (HOME) funds within the Community Development Department to Catholic Charities of Acadiana.

The funds will be used for the implementation of a tenant-based rental assistance program and utilities assistance program.
