Lafayette Ballet Theatre to present virtual performances of The Nutcracker

As holiday traditions shift with the times, this year the Lafayette Ballet Theatre will present The Nutcracker in a different format.

The traditional ballet will still go on during the same weekend and at the same times, but this year the ballet is going virtual.

After the pandemic forced a March performance to be canceled, the Lafayette Ballet Theatre is hoping the community will take part in this performance. One they have worked toward all year.

Lafayette Ballet Theatre Artistic Director Shannon Heath says that while the 20th anniversary will go on, this year's virtual performance is so important to ensure that there is a 21st anniversary.

"We ask the community please consider making this a gift. Please support us," said Heath. "We hope that everyone will make it a holiday tradition because we really need the support and we really want this to be an Acadiana tradition forever and ever."

The Nutcracker will be live streamed on Saturday, December 19 at 7:00 pm and Sunday, December 20 at 2:00 pm.

Heath says that the cost of virtual access is the same as purchasing two balcony tickets.
