JCPenney stores in Louisiana will remain open despite the retailer's recent move to close many of its stores nationwide.
In June, the company announced that the Acadiana Mall location would close permanently while the store on Louisiana Avenue remained open.
Two other locations in Metairie and Shreveport were among the 154 nationwide that were expected to close.
As of July 14, all Louisiana JCPenney retail stores had been removed from the permanent closure list on the company's website.
"As JCPenney continues to evaluate its retail footprint and make strategic decisions for the future of the business, some stores have been removed from the previously announced list of closures and will remain open, including our store at Acadiana Mall," a statement from the company reads. "We look forward to continue serving our customers in Lafayette with many safety precautions in place."
On their website, the company says that following a comprehensive review of their retail footprint, they made the decision to close 148 stores on June 4, 11 on June 22, and two additional stores on July 7.
Liquidation sales at most closing store locations are now underway.
