Jamie Bergeron is speaking out after being fired from Acadian earlier this week over posts on social media.

Bergeron posted a video on Facebook Wednesday night titled "You heard them! Now hear me!!!", making his first public comment about the incidents since he released a statement to KATC on Saturday.

In the video, Bergeron explains that he believes he is being targeted, saying, "These memes may have been insensitive, but they are far from being racist."

Bergeron referenced comedians Dave Chapelle and Eddie Murphy, saying that he has always found their performances funny.

Bergeron thanked Acadian Ambulance for 30 "great years," and explained how he came to work with the business.

"I'm good at saving lives. I'm good at what I did," he said. "When I was on scene, I didn't see color. I saw a patient."

He then focused his words on those he claims targeted him, saying they don't really know his true character.

"You don't know me. You don't really know me. This will not affect the person that I know I am," Bergeron finished.
