----------------------------------------------------------
Interstate 49 will be closed for about half an hour at 6 p.m. so that utility crews can repair some damage, State Police say.
Northbound traffic will be detoured off I-49 at Exit 7, so that motorists can take La. 182 to the Grand Coteau exit and get back on the Interstate there.
Southbound traffic will be detoured off I-49 at Exit 11, so that motorists can take La. 93 to La. 98 or Interstate 10.
If you can avoid the Interstate at that time, please do, State Police say.
The closure is required to repair a line that was downed earlier today when a vehicle pulled a cable off the pole. The pole belongs to SLEMCO, but SLEMCO officials say their crews weren't there at the time. Customers in that area already had been restored earlier today, officials say. Now their power is out again.
Right now, the line is safely out of the way, but the Interstate will have to be closed so it can be completely repaired and the folks in that area can have their power back on.
