LAFAYETTE, La. - The head of the DOTD was the guest speaker at the Kiwanis of Lafayette's weekly meeting.
Shawn Wilson, Ph. D., spoke to the group about major road projects in Acadiana.
One project: I-49 Lafayette Connector. They said they have about 90% of the plan figured out, but they're still working out what it will look like downtown.
"How do you build connectivity," said Wilson. "How do you address mobility? How do you address quality of life with infrastructure? And that's what we are doing with this project and it has rendered a much more sensitive and much more effective infrastructure project that we are proceeding with."
Meetings will begin in April to get public input.
They hope to have a final decision made by the end of 2021.
