United Way of Acadiana, Second Harvest Food Bank, and UL Lafayette helped those experiencing food insecurity with a food distribution event Saturday.
The contact-free drive-up service was available at Cajun Field until 12:00 pm. Volunteers distributed a total of 80,000 pounds of food to those in need.
Those in attendance said the distribution was much appreciated.
"It's a blessing for everyone," said Shirley St. Julien of Lafayette. "Everyone can get food for free and go home and feed their family. That's what we're looking for and that's what we are getting."
