LAFAYETTE — A groundbreaking was held on Friday, July 26 to extend Frem Boustany Drive towards The Vineyard Subdivision in Lafayette.
The city says that the two-lane divided road will provide a more direct route to Ambassador Caffery and Verot School Road for residents in the subdivision.
This is the first part of the Frem Boustany extension which will bring the road all the way to Vincent Road. The extension is expected to help alleviate traffic from Kaliste Saloom and allow another exit and entrance option for residents in the area.
The project has been in the works for the past 4 years, according to Councilwoman Liz Hebert. She says the project is expected to take about a year to a year and a half to complete.
City officials say the extension will also relieve some to the congestion at the intersection of E. Farrel Rd. and Kaliste Saloom Rd.
