LAFAYETTE, La. - The FBI has joined the investigation into the stabbing of Holden White and is now assisting the Lafayette Police Department. In addition, investigators with LPD have sought the opinion of the District Attorney’s Office.
Officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Maryview Farm Road at 11:45 pm on June 20, according to Sgt. Wayne Griffin, spokesperson for LPD. Once on scene, officers located White suffering from a large laceration to his neck.
The suspect, Chance Seneca, 19, who was still on scene, was taken into custody and arrested on a charge of attempted second degree murder.
Friends and family say the victim was targeted for being gay.
The Lafayette Police Department is continuing to develop information in the case and should that information lead to the evidence of a hate crime additional charges can be filed, stated Griffin.
