LAFAYETTE — A grand jury has handed down an indictment in a case involving the death of a 2-month-old in Lafayette Parish.
Dwayne E. Richard of Mandeville was indicted on several charges in the death of his 2-month-old daughter.
In the case, which occurred in March, 2-month-old male and female twins, were brought to a local hospital suffering from severe injuries, according to police. The female twin died from those injuries on March 30, 2019.
Richard was indicted on second-degree murder, second degree cruelty to juveniles, and cruelty to a juvenile charges.
The mother of the child Ayana Ladelle was arrested on first degree murder and second-degree cruelty to juveniles charges. The grand jury declined to indict Ladelle on those charges.
