Acadiana Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster is offering a unique service this weekend.

Acadiana VOAD's Faith Committee is hosting a blessing of the masks at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, August 8 from 9:00 - 11:00 am.

Clergy from various congregations including the Bayou Church and others will be on hand for this drive-through prayer event. There will be a limited number of masks on hand to share, but the group asks that you bring your own if possible.

"As a means of uniting the faith communities across denominational and racial divisions and as a means of drawing closer to God during a time of social distancing, AVOAD's Faith Committee will offer prayers for community members and ask for God's blessing upon the masks that they wear. Please bring your own mask to be blessed. This will be offered as a drive-thru prayer station with leaders from various congregations offering prayer," a release from the group states.

They request that motorists enter heading west on Johnston Street (from the thruway), as this will help with traffic flow.
