A DOTD worker was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 49 this afternoon.
State Police say the worker had parked his vehicle, with the lights flashing, on the shoulder so he could pick up some equipment near the Carencro exit.
Traffic was slowing in the area, and a motorist couldn't stop in time, and took to the shoulder. His SUV struck the worker, State Police say.
The worker sustained moderate to severe injuries, troopers say.
No impairment is suspected on the part of the driver, Logan Trail, 21, of Sunset. Trail was cited for careless operation, police say.
