Cats clock in to help Lafayette residents and businesses with pest control

Posted
and last updated

Residents and business owners across Lafayette Parish can get a little extra help with pest control by taking part in the Lafayette Animal Shelter's "Cats Clocking In" program.

The cats work for food, shelter and care by hunting and deterring unwanted problems from their "employer's" property.

The shelter says that even though these cats look cute on the outside, they aren't house cats.

"They would prefer to be working cats. So we do have cats that are available for adoption for those who want the little lap cat that wants to be in the house," they say. "These cats are used to being outside, and that's what they want to do."

For a full list of details on the requirements for a working cat or to fill out an application, visit the Lafayette Animal Shelter website at lafayettela.gov.
