The Carencro Water System is under a boil order until further notice.

A computer malfunction caused the pumps to stop filling the water tower resulting in low water pressure. No known contamination has occurred as a result of the low pressure, but the boil order was issued as a precaution.

This boil advisory is to remain in effect until rescinded by the Carencro Water System. The boil order will be lifted as soon as samples sent to the state Office of Public Health are tested for safety.

The Lafayette Parish School System announced Wednesday evening that Carencro Middle School and Carencro Heights Elementary will remain open Thursday for students and staff.

All safety precautions will be followed to ensure students and staff are safe. Meals will be served and students are encouraged to bring bottled water if they can do so. LPSS will also provide bottled water.

The water system is operational, so restrooms will be functioning as usual.

Once the boil order has been lifted, we will notify students and staff that is is safe to consume water.

It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means: Boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one clean container to another, or by adding a small pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled.)

Again, please be sure to disinfect your own water prior to consumption until you have been advised otherwise.
