Students at Carencro middle school celebrated Black History Month.
At the school's program on Thursday, students and staff enjoyed music and dance along with skits all performed by students. Artwork by students was displayed at the program.
Various guest speakers spoke to the assembly of students and staff.
This year's theme was "Vote." Staff at the school say they want to teach the students about having a strong sense of pride.
"We look forward to it every year. It's such an exciting time for staff and the students just to. Just to see them in a whole new light and to leave with a sense of pride. Pride and recognition," Principal Ebony Moten said.
