Carencro couple distributing turkeys for veterans and military families

CARENCRO, La. — A local navy veteran and his wife are holding an event honoring Acadiana veterans by helping them provide a Thanksgiving meal this weekend.

On Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, Michael Edmond and his wife Racquel will be hosting "Service Saturday" honoring Acadiana veterans and active duty families.

The 2nd Annual Turkey Distribution will be held from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., while supplies last at the Walmart, located at 3810 NE Evangeline Throughway in Carencro.

A toy drive will also be held from Nov. 19 - Dec 19 with boxes available at the Walmart in Carencro and the Super 1, located at 3916 NE Evangeline Thruway, in Carencro.

The couple will be returning to the Walmart in Carencro on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020 to host "The 2nd Annual Christmas in Carencro" from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

This event will provide stockings stuffed with toys for the children of veterans and active-duty service members of the Acadiana and surrounding areas.
