A blood drive was held on February 1 in support of the woman seriously injured during a Lafayette plane crash in December.

Danielle Truxillo Britt was injured when a plane carrying six people crashed in a field near the post office on Verot School Road.

The plane struck Britt's vehicle which was in the post office parking lot causing it to overturn and catch fire.

She was able to escape the vehicle but not without sustaining severe burns.

The blood drive took place on Saturday, February 1 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Andy's Jewelry in Lafayette.

A bloodmobile was stationed at the location on Feu Follet Road.

Britt asked that those who are able to please consider donating. "If not, just please tell your friends about it," one Facebook post reads.

Vitalant, who conducted the drive, says that all units collected will be applied as monetary credits to offset medical costs for Britt.

Walk-ins were welcome, but those wanting to donate could make an appointment on Vitalant's website.

A donor event page has been set up by Andy's Jewelers.
