The popular Beignet Box made a stop at Big Poppa's gym in Carencro Tuesday as part of their many stops on the 'Dessert on Wheels' nationwide tour.
"We've driven it all the way to Destin, Florida. Stopping in El Paso, San Antonio, and Austin and here in Lafayette," said Tim Morris.
The Beignet Box was created by singer/actress Christina Milian and her long time friend Elizabeth Morris
"Actually, been friends for quite some time, and they just got together, and they came up with this idea."
They launched their first pop up location at Tiger Stadium in 2019 and have been able to add a second truck that's primarily stationed in Los Angeles. Tuesday, Carencro got a chance to see what all the hype has been about.
"It was amazing people lined up 30 minutes early. The line didn't stop before 7 pm until they actually closed up," said Juanita Prejean, co-owner of Big Poppa's Gym.
The company gets a lot of buzz on social media, now gaining more than 50,000 followers online.
"They're convenient, bringing it to people to a convenient location that you don't have to go far and at convenient times," said Prejean.
"We're getting told these are the best beignets that people are trying, and that really excites us. That's what drives us to keep on moving forward," said Morris.
