Denise Boutte, an actress and producer from Louisiana, is in Youngsville today promoting her Creole culinary and spice line.
Boutte is originally from Maurice and grew up wanting to become a doctor. She graduated from LSU with a degree in Mass Communications. She went on to work in advertising and worked with clients like Fossil, Pampers, Mary Kay Cosmetics, and more.
After working in print and commercial campaigns, a "chance introduction landed her a talent manager in Hollywood." Boutte decided to take a chance and move to the West Coast.
She landed recurring and guest roles on several TV shows before landing the role of Trina in Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married?
Perry eventually created the character of Sasha Brown in Meet the Browns for Boutte after being impressed with her acting ability.
Boutte also runs her own production company called Imagine That Productions, Inc. She loves to cook and is highlighting her Creole background in her new recipes and spice collection.
Her brand, Weeziana Girl, claims there is "a kiss of the South in every bite."
Currently, Boutte has several recipes on her website that showcase her culinary roots.
Boutte is introducing her new seasoning line, including a low sodium, original, hot and spicy, and cinnamon and sugar option.
Boutte has also teamed up with Food Network Star Chef Jernard Wells to write a cookbook in which the pair share healthy, but simple Southern recipes.
Fans can also grab some of Boutte's merchandise and try one of her Creole recipes out.
