Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy has named a new principal to oversee the school's 9-12 students.
Kaplan High principal Lyndelle Theriot will step into the leadership role as ARCA transitions to a full K-12 campus by 2023.
With over 27 years experience, Theriot began her career as a mathematics, physics and computer science teacher in Vermilion Parish before moving to the Vermilion Parish School Board to teach sixth through high school math.
Theriot was principal at Abbeville High for 7 years before becoming principal of Kaplan High school in 2019.
After earning her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1987, she went on to obtain her secondary mathematics teacher certification and Master of Science in educational leadership at McNeese State University.
ARCA says Christine Stoudt, who has served as K-8 principal since the school opened in 2014, will continue on in her position.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held earlier this month to begin construction to add 450 K-8 seats and a new facility that will accommodate 600 9-12 students.
Upon completion, the campus located at 600 Savoy Road in Youngsville is expected to accommodate 900 K-5 students and another facility will serve 1,050 6-12 students.
During the 2020-2021 school year, the school will accommodate an additional 50 students per grade in kindergarten through fifth grade and 100 eighth graders will roll-up into ninth grade. The school will add a grade level each year until becoming a full K-12 campus by 2023, according to a release.
