There is a large police presence at the Acadiana Mall in Lafayette Saturday afternoon.
KATC's Chris Welty is live with the latest:
Witnesses tell us they were given a 20-minute warning inside that they had to leave the mall. Some stores still appear open, but there is a large police presence.
Lafayette Police say there has been no reported incident at the mall, but confirm the mall is closing early today.
Police have a staging area set up currently in the Cheddar's parking lot. Officers could be seen throughout the mall parking lot in groups of 2-3. Police vehicles could be seen at nearly every mall entrance, but some officers soon began rolling out with lights towards Johnston St.
Earlier this week, we were told that the mall would be closing early periodically because of the threat of protesters.
